The easiest way to reach Sturm is by car. There are plenty of parking spaces available on site. We also have six electric charging stations, so you can arrive comfortably with your electric car. Mellrichstadt also has its own train station, making arrival by train easy and convenient. We offer a complimentary shuttle service to and from Mellrichstadt train station.

You can park your car conveniently and free of charge in one of our hotel parking areas. Some parking spaces are located directly in front of the hotel, while a large car park is situated right next to the property. If you have booked a Double Room Gartenblick, please leave your luggage in the car during check-in. Afterwards, you can drive directly to your room and unload there.

Nature is close to our hearts, which is why we are happy to support you if you choose to travel sustainably by train. Mellrichstadt has its own train station and is very easy to reach by rail. From there, you can walk through town to our hotel in around 20 minutes. We are also happy to pick you up from the station. To avoid waiting times, please arrange this with us in advance.

You will find our hotel’s own electric charging stations above the hotel. Additional charging stations, including two fast chargers, are available below Hotel Sturm. You can use your own charging card or receive a card at reception if required. In this case, the charging costs of €0.50 per kWh will be charged directly to your room, so you can simply relax and enjoy your stay. Please remember to bring your charging cable.

To ensure that all guests can make use of the charging stations, we kindly ask you to move your car once it is fully charged. Please also note that any blocking fees charged by your provider when using your own charging card are beyond our control.

Mellrichstadt town centre is around 10 to 15 minutes on foot from Sturm.

On the day of arrival, your room will be available from 3:00 pm. If you would like to arrive earlier, you are of course welcome to use our Rhön-SPA or make yourself comfortable on our terrace. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that rooms will be ready before 3:00 pm. On the day of departure, we kindly ask you to vacate your room and settle your bill by 11:00 am.

Would you like more time to enjoy your room? Subject to availability, our system will automatically offer you the option to add an early check-in or late check-out during online check-in.

Depending on whether you have booked half board or bed and breakfast, your included services comprise a generous organic breakfast buffet and, with half board, dinner with vegetarian, vegan, fish and meat dishes. Complimentary Grander water and tea until 5:00 pm are always included, as is the use of the Rhön-SPA with natural swimming pond, various saunas and relaxation areas. During your stay, you also have access to Wi-Fi, a wellness bag with bathrobes and bath towels, as well as a secure bicycle box with charging facilities for e-bikes. The spacious garden with its edible and herb garden also invites you to explore and unwind.

We kindly ask for your understanding that, after many years of experience, we have decided not to allow pets in our hotel. This applies to pets of any kind.

Sturm sees itself as a retreat for deep relaxation and slowing down. To preserve this special atmosphere of tranquillity, we value mindful togetherness across all generations. Please note that our hotel is strongly focused on the need for peace and quiet: our Rhön-SPA is open to young people from the age of 14, and our Double Rooms Gartenblick are reserved exclusively for adults as a special quiet zone.

Out of consideration for all guests seeking peace and quiet, mobile phones and tablets may only be used in silent mode in our guest and relaxation areas. Phone calls are generally not permitted in these rooms. We also expressly point out that photography and filming are strictly prohibited in all sensitive areas, especially throughout the wellness and spa area, in order to protect the privacy of our guests.

If you would like to combine work and holiday and need a quiet workspace for a few hours, please feel free to speak to us. We have various rooms that are suitable for working comfortably.

Our hotel offers barrier-free movement in many areas. Our communal rooms, such as the restaurant, lounge and library, are accessible at ground level. The rooms in the main building can be reached comfortably by lift, as can the Rhön-SPA on the lower ground floor. The garden is also accessible at ground level via Restaurant Otto’s.

Please note, however, that most rooms are equipped with either a bathtub or a shower threshold and are therefore not fully barrier-free.

Sturm is a non-smoking hotel indoors. Smoking is permitted on our terraces and in the adjoining garden. We kindly ask you to be considerate of non-smoking guests, especially during meal times. If you smoke in your room, the additional cleaning costs, or in extreme cases the loss of use of the room if it cannot be occupied, will be charged accordingly.

You are also welcome to purchase a cigar from our humidor and enjoy it on the terrace. Please dispose of cigarette ends properly.

Back to the essentials in modern style. The newly redesigned rooms invite you to discover our Ursprung category. Surrounded by warm earthy tones, understated elegance and natural materials, your mind can instantly come to rest. A special highlight in line with our sustainability philosophy: the innovative woven carpet is made from 100% recycled PET bottles. It combines a wonderfully soft feel underfoot with the highest hygiene standards, making it ideal for allergy sufferers and a perfect example of sustainability in practice.

Yes, absolutely. Sustainability runs like a common thread through all our rooms. We consistently use natural materials such as wood and clay plaster, as well as architecture that supports a healthy indoor climate. A particular highlight can be found in our new Ursprung Rooms: the woven carpets there are made from 100% recycled PET bottles and combine maximum comfort with excellent hygiene.

Because sustainable travel also means mental relaxation for us, we deliberately do without televisions in our Garden View Rooms to create space for digital slowing down. Together with refreshing Grander water, you can sleep here with a thoroughly good, green conscience.

For restful sleep, all rooms are equipped with allergy-friendly bedding as standard. If you suffer from a particularly severe allergy, we are happy to provide special bedding on request.

All our rooms include complimentary Wi-Fi, revitalising Grander water, a television and a packed sauna bag with bathrobe and towels for the duration of your stay. Our Garden View Rooms are a deliberate exception: in keeping with the idea of deep digital slowing down, we consciously do without a television here so that nature can receive your full attention.

The Aussicht Rooms have two separate bedrooms. One of them serves as a passage room to the bathroom.

At Biohotel STURM, you can choose between bed and breakfast or half board. Start your morning with a balanced organic breakfast buffet featuring oven-warm bread rolls, fresh eggs from the organic farm, selected cereals and many regional products.

For a small lunchtime appetite, we serve fine dishes from our carefully selected afternoon menu between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm.

As part of your half board, a freshly prepared dinner awaits you in our organic Restaurant Otto’s. Every day from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, we serve changing creations from the open kitchen, complemented by crisp salad variations and a fine selection of fish, meat and plant-based dishes. One conscious speciality is our Wednesday: on this evening, our kitchen remains completely meat-free and places creative vegetarian, vegan and fine fish creations centre stage. To guarantee this holistic, fresh organic cuisine in the highest quality every day, we cook exclusively within our menu concept and do not offer a classic à la carte restaurant.

In our restaurant, we cook with 100% certified organic products, most of which come from regional producers directly from the Rhön. As a proud business certified according to DE-ÖKO-006, we guarantee this seamless organic quality on your plate. Depending on the season, we even refine our creations with fresh ingredients directly from our own edible garden.

If you have allergies or intolerances, please let us know before your arrival. Thanks to our open and transparent kitchen concept, we can accommodate many requests. Where feasible, we will gladly respond to your needs. Please note that additional costs may apply depending on the effort involved.

External guests are also very welcome. Every day from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, a freshly prepared dinner awaits you, making our innovative 100% organic culinary concept tangible, including exciting insights into our open kitchen.

Look forward to a culinary experience for €65 per person, which you can put together according to your wishes: a fresh salad buffet, a starter, three different main courses to choose from, fish, meat or vegetarian/vegan, which you can also combine freely, followed by dessert.

In the Rhön-SPA, a nature-inspired wellness experience awaits you with various saunas, relaxation rooms and a spacious garden area. Facilities include a Finnish sauna, herbal sauna, steam bath and the garden sauna with views into the greenery. Our fresh-air grotto is also especially soothing and invites you to breathe deeply and consciously.

A highlight is the natural swimming pond in the middle of the spacious hotel garden, perfect for swimming, cooling off and relaxing after a sauna session. You will also find peace in the House of Silence, in cosy retreats around the pond or in the many spots throughout the 15,000 m² garden with its edible and herb garden. The offer is complemented by soothing massages, treatments and yoga and relaxation opportunities in the midst of nature.

Our natural swimming pond is open all year round and, for us, is the natural alternative that truly suits our hotel. It offers guests a refreshing cool-down in summer or an ice bath in winter. Whether textile-free or in swimwear is entirely up to you. The pond is located in the middle of the Sturm park, and the purity of the water, filled with energising Grander water, is a very special experience. Completely free from chlorine or similar chemical additives, swimming in the pond leaves your skin feeling pleasantly refreshed.

In the Rhön-SPA, you can enjoy a garden sauna, a Finnish sauna, a herbal sauna and a steam bath, ideal for relaxing, breathing deeply and switching off in the midst of nature.

We kindly ask for your understanding that access to our wellness area is permitted for children aged 14 and over.

For a thoroughly carefree feel-good experience, our hotel offers different zones. The indoor and outdoor sauna areas are naturally textile-free zones. This also applies to cooling off afterwards: you are welcome to jump directly into our swimming pond textile-free. Please note, however, that clothing is required outside the water and saunas. Numerous hiking and cycling trails through the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön start directly from the hotel. Look forward to more than 9,000 km of hiking trails with impressive views, mountains, moorland landscapes and nature experiences, as well as varied bike routes, from relaxed flow trails to challenging single trails.

Around 100 main and destination routes are connected via approximately 150 junctions, offering ideal conditions for individual bike tours directly from the hotel.

Cyclists are also well looked after: bikes and e-bikes can be safely stored and charged in our bicycle box.

The Rhön offers ideal conditions for a varied active holiday in unspoilt nature. Whether hiking, cycling or simply spending mindful time outdoors, wide landscapes, mountains, moors, forests, orchards and impressive views await you around the hotel.

As part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the region is not only a paradise for active holidaymakers, but also a special habitat for rare animal and plant species. In this way, nature experience, movement and relaxation come together in a very special way.

Bicycles can be rented at the hotel for tours of discovery through the Rhön. Our all-round bicycles from the Cube brand are ideal for leisurely rides and active excursions in the surrounding area. Helmets and locks are also gladly provided.

For up to three hours, bicycle rental costs €10.00 per bike. For a full day, the price is €15.00. Further information and reservations are available at reception at any time.

Our bicycle box is available to all guests with a room card. Here, you can safely store your bicycles and lock them with your own lock. We also offer charging facilities for e-bikes, so your bicycles are well protected and ready to use at any time. Please note that charging batteries is only permitted in the bicycle garage.

Rest assured, your favourite bike is safe: access to the bicycle box is only possible for guests, and all entries are logged.

Bicycles may not be stored in the rooms. Any resulting damage or soiling will be charged accordingly.

In the kitchen, too, enjoyment is in harmony with nature: we use exclusively organic products, and many herbs, fruits and vegetables come directly from our own garden. During the redesign of the hotel, we consciously focused on preserving existing structures and using natural building materials, such as the preserved original ceiling in Restaurant Otto’s. Spacious garden areas, natural materials such as clay plaster and wood, calm architecture and the direct connection to the landscape of the Rhön create an atmosphere in which nature and design flow harmoniously into one another.

No, a deposit is not required.

Payment is made on site on the day of departure. We accept cash payment as well as card payment by credit card, debit card or EC card.

Would you like to give a stay as a gift? Then you are welcome to use the voucher tool on our website. You can create a personal voucher for either part of the amount or the full amount of the booked stay. Choose from the image templates and give the gift of individual relaxation, complete with your own personal message. We offer value vouchers only, which can be redeemed for any of our services.

Cancellation fees vary depending on the time of cancellation before the start of your trip. Cancellation is free of charge up to 7 days before arrival. For cancellations made less than 7 days before arrival, 70% of the travel price will be charged as a cancellation fee.
Exception: events subject to minimum participant numbers, such as yoga retreats. For these, cancellation is free of charge up to 28 days before arrival, after which 90% will be charged.

If the room can be re-let, we will of course waive invoicing.

Our tip: travel safely, cancel without risk. So that, in the event of cancellation or interruption of your holiday due to illness, accident or unemployment, including within the family, possible financial losses can be reimbursed, we recommend the products of our partner ERGO Travel Insurance, the market leader among travel insurers in Germany.

Our children’s rates apply to all children sharing a room with two full-paying guests. Children up to the age of 2 stay free of charge at our hotel. After that, the following rates apply:

• 3 to 6 years: €59.00 per child per night
• 7 to 12 years: €79.00 per child per night

Please note that our Double Rooms Gartenblick can only be booked by adults.
